African BPO Academy is Africa’s very first organized initiative to promote large-scale talent-pool development for the BPO and Call Center industries in the most promising parts of Africa. Focusing on Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Nigeria, ABA has been set up by none other than Gilda Odera - one of most popular and visible champions of the Kenyan Outsourcing industry - in technical collaboration with the BPO Certification Institute, Inc. (BCI) - www.bpocertifications.com - the world’s largest BPO standards and credentialing body. ABA is headquartered in Nairobi and is BCI’s authorized Certification Training Provider for several African countries including Kenya.
ABA today boasts of having the widest bouquet of the world’s most advanced training programs for BPO and Call Center agents, Team Leaders, Managers and senior professionals. These include state-of-the-art BPO certification training programs for five different levels of BPO professionals – all designed in strict accordance to BCI’s BPO human competence standards the HCMS21 Release 3.2.
ABA is also one of Africa’s few training organizations where all of BCI’s 16 Certification Programs are available.
ABA is backed solidly by all possible stakeholders of the BPO industry including Call Center/ BPO industry bodies; government departments, BPO and Call Center organizations and academic institutions across most parts of Africa.
In late 2009, ABA commenced Kenya’s very first BPO Fresh Talent Development Initiative under BCI’s global Mission Million program. Several colleges and institutions in Kenya and in other countries are joining forces with ABA to help their graduating students get BPO-trained and internationally certified by BCI, which will then help them get white-collar jobs in BPOs and call centers almost immediately after they pass-out.
In Kenya, ABA would offer these training programs at Nairobi,
Mombasa,
Kisumu,
Eldoret,
Nyeri and
Machakos.
